Biography
Hello everyone! I am thrilled to be part of the Soroptimist Club. I moved to Big Bear in 2023 with my husband and our two dogs, and joined the team at the Big Bear Alpine Zoo as Curator. In this role, I get to work alongside incredible people and animals and work to provide the highest standards of animal care and education.
For over 25 years, I’ve dedicated my career to enhancing the welfare of marine mammals and wildlife. Before coming to Big Bear, I served as Curator at the Sea Life Trust Beluga Whale Sanctuary in Iceland, where I led efforts in creating the world’s first sanctuary for belugas. My time at the John G. Shedd Aquarium in Chicago taught me the importance of animal enrichment and community engagement, and I’ve always believed in the transformative power of education when it comes to wildlife conservation.
When I'm not working at the zoo, I’m passionate about cycling and love to compete. I believe that staying active and embracing the outdoors is essential for both physical and mental well-being. I’m eager to connect with other community members and share insights, experiences, and initiatives that promote a healthy, vibrant community.
I’m looking forward to collaborating with all of you and contributing to the wonderful work the Soroptimist Club is doing to make a positive impact in our community!
